Universal Remote - LG 42LC2D & VMC

Hello all,

I have been reading these forums (avidly) for the past month or so, for which it has been very educational experience to date.

The question i have and ultimatly would like to achieve is probably not a simple one, but here goes anyway.

I have built a HTPC from a Fusion V2 case (Built in IR) which im making some decent inroads into. It would be ideal that i can do away with the 4 current remotes i have in the lounge room.

What i am more concerned about is having my universal remote that came with my LG42LC2D TV to control various functions of my HTPC (which uses Vista), usual functions etc, Vol/Play/rew/all that.

Is there some sort of software that i can obtain that will allow me to pair up and recognise the remote, then assign various codes within to control various aspects of the HTPC etc.

The TV remote has 3 modes, TV/VCR/DVD and im betting that these functions are determinted by the IR reciever and can be changed somewhat within the IR software itself.

Of course i could go buy the universal remote that is available from Logitech and deal with that, but i would prefer to avoid a "new remote" learning curve for my missus.

Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Esq

Re: Universal Remote - LG 42LC2D & VMC

Ive recently come to realise that attempting to work with the Antec Fusion built in IR is a complete waste of time...

I could not get for the life of me to have even raw codes displayed/received by winlirc using the Built in IR panel.

Then tried the IR cable that came with my PxPvr2200 card, it dont show up in device manager, the driver package does not seem to pick it up.

This cable plugs in directly into the back of the card.

Seems i may just go and buy this from Jaycar - Link and test that out.

Any ideas on the IR cable that comes with the PxPvr2200? Or should i just move on and spend 50 odd bucks? ..
