Antec Fusion V2 - in SEXY black in Australia

Just thought I would make that announcement just in case it wasn't already known. The newly updated Antec Fusion Case (Version 2) is now available in Black here in Australia.

I am waiting (not so patiently) for mine to arrive....and will be setting up my new MSI K9AGM3 with onboard HDMI (same as the M2 but with 4 memory slots) motherboard with Vista tonight in anticipation of the cases new arrival.

QM.

Re: Antec Fusion V2 - in SEXY black in Australia

G'day,

I received mine (Antec Fusion Black) last Thursday. First experience with HTPC so nothing to compare to. I decided on this case about a month ago based mainly on appearance, and Antec's reputation.

I'm pretty happy with it in general, but I think a couple of simple things really let it down. Such as:
1. The LCD is woeful, I hoped it would have a similar professional appearance to other AV gear such as an amp. Unfortunately it resembles more of a backyard job, I reckon i'll be pulling the pin on it soon.
2. The 2 case cooling fans. While very quiet at the low setting, there is no facility to connect these fans to the motherboard for monitoring, variations of speed etc.
3. The ordeal you must go through to wire up so that the PC can be put into standby with a remote. I don't really understand why this is not wired up from the factory.

Sorry for a negative post, its really unfortunate the LCD looks so poor, otherwise it would be a great case, well made, good ventilation, easy to install etc.

I'll be interested to read what other HTPC users think of it.

Cheers,
Bob

If folks don't need the VFD & Volume knob but still want a black Antec HTPC case, there's always the NSK2480-B

Is the VFD really that poor? I was planning on getting the V2 for the aesthetic of having the VFD (even though I knew I couldn't read it from where I sit) and also the built in IR receiver meaning I could get rid of the large MS one.

But if it looks dodgy, I might as well get the NSK2480 for about $100 less.

I think it's also the compatability issues too: SPCR review. Antec were supposed to be fitting an LCD to the V2 but....

Just to be clear, the Antec Fusion V2 comes with a VFD, the Antec Fusion Black comes with an LCD.

I have the Fusion Black, and yes the LCD really is that poor.

Check posts from ptr727 at http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums...ic.php?t=41045 and his page about the issue at http://www.insanegenius.com/fusionblack/

Note that all promo images on the Antec site for the case have the unit powered down, the V2 shows how the VFD looks, but funnily enough, they don't display how the LCD looks.
