FusionHDTV

I have 4 media center pcs networked in my house... great system!! I struggled with hauppauge novaT cards for so long I decided to invest in a FusionHDTV dual tuner card which has great reviews. I installed the card and the drivers seemed to load fine (all looks fine in device manager). MCE will only see one tuner and if I disable the first tuner in device manager then MCE says there are no tuners. I also note that in the event log, I get TV tuner malfunction. (0x80040265) FusionHDTV, NTSC/ATSC WDM TvTuner. Looking through other posts, I can see an idea of swapping the card into another slot to get over IRQ conflicts. I did that without any luck (both tuners show as fucntioning in device manager. cant get into the dvico site... seems to be down. My driver versions (off the CD are 4.0.102.0). Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!

Re: FusionHDTV

Software is at http://fusionhdtv.co.kr/ENG/Download/SoftwareDVBT.aspx. If that doesn't solve it, are you sure your USB port is OK? You have connected the second tuner to the USB port? If connected internally, try externally, try a different cable, etc.

Re: FusionHDTV

Paul

Feel a little stupid. Did not connect the 2nd tuner, although in my defence, the instructions are not that clear on this point and why would it be designed in that way??

Anyway thanks for your help, will download the lastest drivers and hopefully the errors will stop appearing in the event log.

Great forum by the way!!

I don't think the errors will stop appearing. I get them on my setup with my Fusion Plus cards and so does a friend of mine. Haven't been able to work out why they occur.

Re: FusionHDTV

I must say that my joy of seeing 2 tuners was short lived. I am not going up the **** wall with this thing. I have used MCE2005 for nearly a year and it worke like a dream. Now I have intermittent 'NO TV Signals' my EPG randomly loses data and I am wasting days of my life with countless re-installations to get over it. I don't get it, what happened. It's a real lottery as to if a program will record as I could get the No signal. My signal average 65% but has always been like this. When I get TV , some channels stutter. Thought that the bandwidth setting that someone posted had mad a difference, but not sure now. Really am at the end of my patience especially what it had all worked so well. If anyone else has had similar problems and got over them, I would be glad to hear what you did.##

Re: FusionHDTV

that error looks like a windows error??

SUMMARY
When you try to play a media file by using Microsoft Windows Media Player, you receive the following error message:
Cannot play back the file. The format is not supported. (Error=80040265)
CAUSE
This issue may occur for one or more of the following reasons:
One or more Windows Media Player files are missing or damaged.
You are trying to play a media file that has a file format that Windows Media Player does not support. For example, you are trying to play a .viv file. Windows Media Player does not support .viv files.
The media file is damaged.
The media file uses a codec that is not installed.
The media file uses a codec that Windows Media Player does not support.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, follow these steps. After you complete each step, test to determine whether the issue is resolved.

Note Windows Media Player supports the most common media file formats. However, it does not support every media file format that is currently available. In step 1, make sure that Windows Media Player supports the format of the file that you are trying to play. If Windows Media Player does not support that format, do not perform the steps after step 1. Instead, contact the distributor of that file to see whether a viewer for the file is available.

Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
Verify that Windows Media Player supports the file format that you are trying to play. Windows Media Player supports the following file formats:
Windows Media formats: .asf, .asx, .avi, .wav, .wax, .wma, .wm, .wmv
Moving Pictures Experts Group (MPEG) formats: .m3u, .mp2v, .mpg, .mpeg, .m1v, .mp2, .mp3, .mpa, .mpe, .mpv2
Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) formats: .mid, .midi, .rmi
UNIX formats: .au, .snd
Note Windows Media Player does not support playing .avi files that were created by using the Microsoft MPEG4v3 codec. Microsoft supports MPEG4v3 files in .asf streaming format only. These files are not supported in an .avi file type. To play the file, you must encode the file again by using the original source in a supported format, such as the .wmv format. To do this, you can use the Windows Media Encoder. For additional information, visit the following Microsoft Web site, and then click Windows Media Encoder in the Select Download list:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...ad/default.asp

If you have access to the original source, contact the creator of the file and request that the creator convert the file to a supported Windows Media Player file format.
Verify that you can play a media file that uses the same file name extension as the file that you were playing when you received the error message.

For descriptions and samples of file formats that are supported by Windows Media Player, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
316992 Windows Media Player multimedia file formats

If the other file plays correctly, the original file you that were trying to play may be damaged. If you receive an error message when you play both of the files, go to the next step.
Remove Windows Media Player, restart the computer, and then reinstall Windows Media Player.
To remove Windows Media Player, follow these steps:
Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
In the Currently installed programs list, click Microsoft Windows Media Player, and then click Change/Remove.
When you are prompted to confirm the removal, click Yes.

Note You cannot remove the built-in version of Windows Media Player by using this method. For additional information about how to remove Windows Media Player 9 Series, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...x#removeplayer

Restart the computer.
To download the latest version of Windows Media Player, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

CJ

Thank you for the long response. Would this work as somtimes I am getting the stream OK from the card and sometimes not. Is the stream not of the same format all of the time eg mpeg?

Re: FusionHDTV

Spanout

not sure...

I'm not really experienced with the whole HTPC thing... but the error message is
what caught my attention as it certainly appears to be a windows one...

However, there are a few questions...

1. are you using WMP for playback or native app?
2. if so, what's the format

there's some good stuff in that post... btw... this is the reference that I got from
VS2005 doco.. like I said the error message is what caught my eye...

If you are getting stream ok/nok then that perhaps suggests that something is not
quite right with either the signal [you quote 65%] or that your setup is having issues
trying to decode it....

What are your specs and have you tried driver reinst???

Re: FusionHDTV

I have to confess that I have given up on the Fusion card and gone back to the Hauppauge Nova T which apart from missing some stations that the Fusion gave me is working well. I plan to return to Fusion once it has more stable integration with MCE, seems I am not alone with the problems and I hope that Dvico look into. By the way for the sake of giving info that might help someone who views this, I had all these problems with 3 types of MPEG decoder (thinking that it was a media player issue - Fusion, NVIDIA and WinDVD 4). I am on an ASUS Pundit 2.8 Ghz Prescott processor 1GB ram.

I know it was a long time ago you posted this, but i was just reading it. That tuner card works best when you unplug the network cable then scan for channels, Its similar to what happen to me. I used to have a wireless netwok card in my machine and I would have to disable it before MCE would detect all 35 channel on the gold coast. Otherwise i would only get 20. Same when the network cable was pluged in, the only thing that worked was physically pulling out the cable.

PS. When installing the Fusion Drivers also Pull out the Network Cable for a quick clean install. Im very Happy with my fusion card. The latest software for my card is also alavilable now and it is Media Center Compatible.
