ABIT boards and P.O.S.T error 9.0

Ok, I did a search and couldnt find much. Has anyone else had this problem with an ABIT motherboard? I have unplugged and reseated everything, but the system boots to a 9.0 error. What caused it was I added a second SATA drive. It seems to me the ABIT Bios's have a hard time adjusting to hardware changes. I reckon I cleared my CMOS 20 times on my first build.
Im getting the PLCC bios chip reflashed tomorrow, I hope that works, otherwise goodbye AA8 Duramax and hello ASUS.

My ambition is to one day post a resolution on here instead of raising issues.

I'm gathering you've raised this issue with Abit? If not, perhaps a good idea. Is it still under warranty?

I have an Abit board (AN8 U-Guru) --> and it's brilliant. SATA not a problem either.

Re: ABIT boards and P.O.S.T error 9.0

Hi Ranz,

The board was working fine with 1 Seagate IDE, DVD secondary IDE and 1 Samsung 250gig Sata. It booted everytime, i had MCE fully loaded and functional. Then I added a second SATA and tried to raid 0 the 2 sata's and it died. I've read the ABIT forums, in all cases the suggestion is to upgrade the power supply or get the bios reflashed. I'll see if that works first. Not sure what ABIT's support is like in Australia.
The board was bought off an online Ebay shop, It should be in warranty, I only had it for 2 months.

Re: ABIT boards and P.O.S.T error 9.0

My advise to anyone who has this problem, persistance is the key. I ended up removing all hardware and reseating the CPU, which then got me into the bios. However, kept getting code9.0 so everytime I unplugged and replugged the Uguru, it seems to fool the bios. So whenever I get a code 9.0 I unplug something, try a couple of times the it gets past 9.0
Very frustrating, but it seems once I save bios settings, it's happy so long as i dont change anything else.

Had the same error with the same board. I just removed bios battery and cleared CMOS and left without battery and set to clear CMOS for an hour or so. Came back and it worked again

Re: ABIT boards and P.O.S.T error 9.0

Hi Simbot82,

I found myself switching everything off and clearing the CMOS way to often. You shouldnt have to keep doing that everytime you add a piece of hardware. These are very finnicky boards, or at least the phoenix bios is.
I had mine off for over day with no success.
Anyway, goodluck if you get stuck on the code9.0 one day. I hope my suggestions help.

Re: ABIT boards and P.O.S.T error 9.0

Yeah mine only needed doing once. Pulled hardware out once then back in with clear CMOS and it worked. From what I have read people with this error on ABIT boards get sent a new bios chip from ABIT to install
