Help needed: Switching from tv to hdmi with Bravia LCD

Hi there,

I have a weird issue that I wondered if anyone could assist me?

I have a Sony Bravia 32" LCD with a PVR plugged into one of the HDMI ports with a DVI to HDMI cable runining Vista SP1. When I switch from TV to HDMI the native resolution is always set to 1280 x 1024, whereas I was it ti set to 1920 by 1024. Why is it doing this. The same applies when I close down MCE. Is there anyway of resolving this? I have searched the Interent trying to find an answer to no avail. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Here are my PVR specs:

Processor Intel Pentium D 3.0GHz Dual Core 2x2M CacheProcessor 925
PC Memory 1GB (2 x 512MB) 533MHz DDR2 RAM
Graphics Intel Dedicated 128M VGA PCIe
Sound Integrated 7.1 Channel High Definition Audio
3.5" Hard Disk 320GB 7,200RPM Serial-ATA Hard Drive
Wireless PCI Card None
Network Adapter Integrated 10/100/1000M Ethernet LAN
Optical Drive 16x DVD-/+RW Dual Layer Drive
Floppy Drive None
Card Reader Integrated 8-in-1 Card Reader
TV Tuner 2x DreamVision Hybrid digital HD + anolog TV tuner + FM
PC Monitor None
Operating System Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium (with media centre)

Thanks in advance.

David.

What is the native resolution of your TV?
I suspect it is 1366x768. Setting it to higher than native will not give you better picture.
With your GPU you cannot setup custom resolutions, unfortunately.
NVidia or ATI software can do custom resolutions.

Thanks for the quick response. Very impressed! :-)

Its not so much about getting a better picture, but getting a bigger picture that fits the whole screen.

So my next question is.... How can I resolve this? Get a different graphics card? Please excuse me if this sounds stupid, most things I can get my head around but this has got me totally stumped.

Cheers,

David.
