Configuration of MCE remote

I currently have MCE 2005 installed and i bought a remote recently for it.
Due to the fact that i cant fast forward or rewind Divx/Xvid and the only way for me to skip or rewind is to use the keyboard shortcuts (CTRL+F etc) as the skip buttons on the remote dont do anything.
I would like to set it up so i can program the skip buttons to be bound to the keyboard shortcuts for this function and due to there being no software i was wondering if anyone on here knew of a way for me to do this...
or any way for me to enable fastforward etc on MCE 2005, any help would be much appreciated
Thanks
