Wondering if anyone can help me. I have a Harmony 880 remote. The other day, I was flicking channels with the remote - suddenly it just stopped working. The remote LCD & buttons appear to be working, but the remote can not control any of my equipment anymore. It looks as though it is sending some sort of IR signal because the MCE remote sensor flashes each time I press a button.
I have reloaded the codes onto the remote again, but it didn't work.
Anyone experience anything like this? Is the remote dead?

If the receiver is blinking when you press a button then I would doubt that there is anything wrong with the Harmony. It's more likely that you have an MCE problem. Have you tried using the MCE remote to see if it works?
Yes, flashed firmware and re-downloaded IR codes on to remote, but still doesn't work with any of my equipment. if you look at the remote, it all looks good - It just doesn't send out the right signals.
Sounds like some harware problem?
In all seriousness though it doesn't sound good. Might be time to contact Logitech support.
Hopefully his 880 is still under warranty, otherwise contacting Logitech will be a total waste of time. They're good at fixing up issues with your software setup, but absolutely useless when it comes to getting spare parts ("there are NO spare parts in the whole of the Asia Pacific region"). I'm still waiting to get a return call from one of their support guys about my 880 AC adapter - that's after 6 weeks and two calls to other staff who ensured me that they'd leave a message for him.
Had the same problem a few months back. What I had found was that the 2 infrared diodes in the remote had failed (apparently a common thing with this remote).
The way to check this is to get a digital camera with a LCD display (or use a web cam) and in a dark room point the remote at the camera. When you go to transmit with the remote u should see a glow emitted from the remote on your cameras display.
If u see nothing then the infrared is faulty which is what I had.
I tried logitech but my remote was out of warranty so they couldn't help. So next I grabbed a couple of old remotes I had lying around and replaced the diodes in my logitech 880 with ones out of the remotes. The harmony 880 has 2 Diodes (I think in series). Now I'm not very clued up on how to distinguish between different types of diodes so I took a chance with ones that looked similar. Well this fixed my remote, I hope this helps you.

Thanks for the reply. I have about 15 remotes in a box. I'll try this out tonight and see how I go. I think you are probably right about the diodes, as it appears to be working apart from the ir sending part.

Thankyou Paul,
I pulled an old VCR remote apart and soldered one of the diodes onto the 880. I left the other diode alone.
I personally think the Harmony 880 is a great universal remote and besides the flaw with the diodes and the remote not quite sitting right in the charger. The WAF is all thumbs up when i comes to recording on one device while switching to another. Adding and removing devices is a breeze too.
