Harmony xbox vs harmony 525

I currently have an imon remote control. I was pretty happy with it but recently some of the buttons have started to die on me after 2 years which I don't think is good enough so I'm looking for an alternative.

I've obviously come across the logitech harmony remote series and was wondering how they perform in Vista Media centre and which one is better suited (the xbox version or the 525)?

What would be the pro's and cons of choosing one over the other?

Also since I'm unfamiliar with the logitech I'm hoping someone can clue me in on something. Is there any software that you need to install in Vista to be able to configure it? From what I've read configuration occurs via logitech site. Given this can you launch applications from the remote and navigate web pages using it etc?

With the imon an application ran on Vista in the background intercepting the keys which you could assign to pretty much do anything in Vista (launch apps, navigate webpages, control MCE). The controls would be application specific so whatever had focus would be the configuration to use. Can something like this be done with the harmony?

Got a feeling I need to read the manual but some of you might save me some time as I'm currently throttled and don't have the patience to wait

TIA

Re: Harmony xbox vs harmony 525

I have the logitech 550 which is the one above the xbox remote, the only difference though is about 4 more buttons. When you setup your remote via the logitech website you don't require any software like HIP. It runs as is but you still need a receiver to point at it. I think for a media center the xbox remote would be a better buy you can setup up the color buttons for music , movies, tv ...etc
