Hard Drive freezing

Hi Guys, wondering if any of you have had this problem. I have just put a 500Gb hard drive in my Media Center (replaced a 320Gb as I filled it), it now freezes while I'm watching a show, and won't do anything so requires a forced shutdown, it then works for a few hours (after shuting it down again and rebooting the proper way) before freezing again. I've had the machine for 12 months now and it's never done it before, just wondering if anyone knows what it would be, maybe the hhd's a dud? getting too hot?

Thanks.
