Question fusion remote question

Hi guys, I've recently built my system and am loving it except for the fusion remote. is there any way i can map buttons or do something that will allow the remote to wake the system(and put to sleep rather than off) or am i just gonna have to fork out for mce remote ?.
WAF is slowly slipping as she doesn't like multiple button presses !
cheers

Re: fusion remote question

In my opinion the MS MCE remote is about the best available apart from the Logitech Harmony range. It would be a good investment and would increase WAF. I use a MCE remote and a Harmony 680 MCE remote (no longer available ). I've tried several others including MCE remotes from HP, Rock and Digital Now (one to be avoided) and the MS MCE beat them all except the logitech.

Re: fusion remote question

Thanks ,would the harmony need the mce receiver to wake tho or would it be ok with the fusion ir receiver. Dont really want to have to outlay cash twice.
cheers

Re: fusion remote question

Hi blinken,

You will need the MS MCE receiver. As Mysteron says the MCE remote is one of the best, my wife prefers it to a much more expensive Harmony model. Buy a receiver / remote combination but make sure its a genuine microsoft one as there are plenty of copies out there that don't work properly.

Craig.

Re: fusion remote question

As Craig said you will need the MS remote receiver for the logitech however having two remotes (one MS one Logitech) is great as the logitech turns things on and off setting inputs etc and the MS can be used by all the family for general navigating. Get both

I'd say that all you have to do is simply change defaulf action of power button press.

In "Control Panel" go to "Power Options" and on the left click "Change what power button does" (or something like that) - now simply change from power off to "Sleep".

Cheers,
P

Sorry mate, only now I noticed this thread is under XP section rather than Vista.

Wit XP under "Power Options" click on Advanced tab and then from drop down list choose "Stand by" for power button.

Re: fusion remote question

That probably won't work unfortunately.

The Fusion IR receiver needs to be wired differently for the wake from sleep function to work.

Which version of the Fusion is it? The Black or Silver?

...was that his current setup allows him to power ON OFF his PC but he'd rather prefer it to put it to SLEEP and WAKE it back up (with the same button).
