General Remote Questions

Hey there,

I have a few questions in regards controlling the media centre via remote.
1) Can you get the TV tuner remote (DTV1000 - Leadtek) remote to control MCE05?? If not does that I mean I have to purchase the genuine MCE remote with receiver to control the menu in MCE05?
2) I have an ASUS Digital series motherboard. The little DH Remote seems like a croc of $h!t... Has anyone used the IR receiver to communicate with the operating system (inparticular the MCE05 menu)?
3) From what I've researched it seems like that I will have to buy the Microsoft remote + keyboard bundle... which kinda sucks now since I have a Logitech Harmony 525 remote. Has anyone used this remote to control their MCE?

Thanks heaps!

Chewy

I don't think those ones can. You don't need a Microsoft receiver though. VFDs such as the iMon with the IR receiver work well with Media Centre.

Not that I know of.

Yes. You need an IR receiver and software though. I know iMon does work, but there may be others. Personally, I have found the MS receiver and remote (about $60 for both) a pretty good buy. The MS remote is actually quite good.

Re: General Remote Questions

You can always give " HIP " a try and see if it works with your setup...

Much cheaper these days, e.g. $38.60 from ARC.

I know!

I paid just on $50 last year & it was well under the average at the time. I priced an MCE PC for a customer last month & was amazed when I saw the ARC price. You do have to shop around though.
