Laptop to Plasma

I have a home network and a network point right under my 50inch plasma and I was wonder if its possible to play movies from the network thru my laptop on my Plasma?
I assume I would only need the appropriate plugs so I went out yesterday and bought a audio jack and tried to get a male to male VGA cable but couldn't find one that was under 15m.

Has anybody tried doing this with a 3 year old laptop Celeron 4 1.8ghz or similar. I've got no idea what type of onboard graphics this thing has but I'm sure its not too flash.

I've got a bucketload of movies stored on my desktop pc in .vob and .avi formats and would love to play them on the plasma.

Yep should work a treat but you might have trouble getting the laptop to do native res (probably 1280x768 or similar) for your plasma so it might not look that great.

If you have trouble with AVI's on your lappy I suggest you try Media Player Classic (the sourceforge one), it does awesome playback with low spec machines.
