about to buy a 2nd card

Just wondering im about to buy a 2nd hdtv card for my htpc and wonder if the 2nd card should be same make model or should i go a different brand ??
im currently using a twinhan miniter hdtv card.

Will windows mce allow me to use the two?? the reason i ask this is becuase i sent an email to twinhan asking if two of these cards would work fine in mce2005 and they said no (but i have a feeling no one at twinhan has any idea what there on about)

these are the two cards im looking at..

Vision-Plus Vision DTV Internal HDTV Digital TV Tuner
Twinhan DTV Mini-Ter Internal HDTV Digital TV Tuner

thanks in advance

Re: about to buy a 2nd card

I'm running two VP cards in mine with no problem. Can't see what their issue would be.

In fact you're a lot less likely to have problems if you run identical cards, provided they are known to work together.

Cheers,
Arkay.

Re: about to buy a 2nd card

CordlezToaster - I got 3 of those visionplus cards in my machine - all running fine... I dont believe there is any real difference between visonplus and twinhain mini - just the layout of the board 0 they both use the same drivers / software.

Support from Twinhain is dismal - when I had a query about their cards and MCE, I got the response - use the twinhain software instead (and its a shocker!)

Go for it - you will have no issues.

Re: about to buy a 2nd card

Hi guys, I had a visionplus and I bought a dvico fusion lite last night. I have already taken back the fusion, and got the twinhan which uses the same drivers as my VP.

When i got the fusion home, there was some bad stutter with the latest drivers, while my VP was working fine. I guess the moral of the story is that if you know that one card already works in your current setup, you should get the same one and it will save you having to troubleshoot and diagnose 2 different types of cards. Im sure if i massaged it i could have found out why it stuttered, but the truth is i couldnt be stuffed.

Ill let you know how the VP and minTer work tonight.

Re: about to buy a 2nd card

Okay, i definately reccomend the MiniTer over the fusion as your second card.

I dont think it makes a difference if you go VP or MiniTer, they are basically the same thing.

The problem i had with the second MiniTer is that MCE would not recognise both straight away. I installed the spectrum drivers for it to see them both in settings. Im sure if i reinstalled the twinhan bda drivers it would probably work - thats because god hates me and wants me to do everything at least three times before it works. Ive decided not to touch it for the time being cos it works.

Anyway, go for it, im glad i went dual.
