• Remebers last folder it was in. So next time you load it will be there

Once again top APP, great to see improvements.

Re: MusicalFolders v1.4.2

deadeye,
thanks for this program. its a lifesaver.
as well as the above suggestion, maybe the fonts could be a bit bigger and easier to read in the next version...
thanks again for a great program.

Re: MusicalFolders v1.4.2

Hello Again Guru of Plugin Programming. :-)

Good update, I just installed it now, and its noticeably faster. I have 163 artists folders, so takes a while to show up.

Anyway, I asked before, but it would be really cool if your installer allowed me to install My Musical Folders onto the start menu of MCE. I've found no way to put it there myself, but plenty of other plugins let me, so it must be possible.

Thanks for the great plugin.

On another note, I am about to start trying to "hack" podcasts into my MCE setup somehow. I figure I should be able to find a way to store mp3 podcasts locally and have them auto download in the background with some other app. One idea would be to have two "my music" replacements, and call one "My Podcasts" and point it to the root podcast folder. Anyone got an idea about this?

Re: MusicalFolders v1.4.2

Just got a reply from the guy who makes my web news, which has a menu editor included;
Mattew,

The reason is that Musical Folders uses an ‘mcl’ file which is from previous versions of MCE, but it still works.
So its not registered in the normal way.

But with the Menu Editor you should be able to create a new entry in the Start menu.
But be carefull, MCE only accepts two entries in the Start menu.

With regards,
Dr.ir. S.A. Miedema

Looks like I am in for some trouble :-) If only M$ understood the beauty of a proper plug in architecture :-)

Re: MusicalFolders v1.4.2

Just what I needed. I've got too many MP3's and not enough patience to sort them out any other way other than by folders.

One problem I've got is that all my music is stored on a network drive on a different PC, and MusicalFolders seems unable to get to any of these.

Any ideas if I'm doing something wrong, or is this something that needs a fix?

Re: MusicalFolders v1.4.2

Have you mapped the share on the other PC to a drive letter on your MCE machine? Thats all that should be required, as the drive letter will show up when you setup your music folders in MCE.

Re: MusicalFolders v1.4.2

Yep, it's mapped as N:, and MCE's "My Music" list gives me a whole load of "Unknown Albums" but Musical Folders only gives me ".."

Re: MusicalFolders v1.4.2

Thats a permission issue.

Musical folders runs as the user specified in IIS.
generaly this is IUSR_<computer name>

Set the EVERYONE user ful permissions to your network path and all will be happy.

Re: MusicalFolders v1.4.2

Must be doing something wrong, the share has both sharing permissions set to full control for everyone, and the file permissions are set the same.
All I seem to get listed in MusicalFolders now is the directory structure of c:\. Something amiss with my configuration I suspect.

Thanks for the advice so far, if you've any more ideas I'd appreciate it!

Re: MusicalFolders v1.4.2

No, still not working properly.

I tried creating a "Virtual Folder" in IIS to my shared drive mapping, but keep getting permisisons issues in Event Log. No idea what's wrong, since the network drive itself works fine (songs play under Winamp). Run out of ideas now I'm afraid

Re: MusicalFolders v1.4.2

To confirm, the problem is the correct folders are not being shown?

You go to your My music section and add folders though the MCE interface wizard thingie.

If it is trying to go to a directory that doesnt exist anymore. Load up Internet Explorer and clear your cookies. That will make it go back to the default.

let me know how you go

Re: MusicalFolders v1.4.2

Mark P my music was located on both a network and secondary hdd in my HTPC.I have transfered some files to the local C:\ and navigated to it.It seems even though musical folders can see the network drives in the test folder option you can't actually navigate to it. Maybe Daniel (Deadeye)can add this in the next version. For the moment i will just use the music on the local C:\ drive.
