A couple of feature requests

G'day Dan,

First off, thanks for Musical Folders. Its indispensable!

I've got a couple of things to consider next time you get motivated to work on MusicalFolders

- Option to change navigation to a list view, instead of an icon/thumbnail view? With Folder.jpg displayed somewhere on the page? (eg as shown in attached file)

- checking for & displaying a couple of different file names (eg: logo.jpg, front.jpg, back.jpg, bandphoto.jpg)

- A button on the left hand menu, which takes you back to the root top level of your mp3 folders? (in the pic, I've called it "genres", because my mp3 folder structure goes
"\mp3\genre\bandname\year-album\tracknum-songname.mp3"

- This is one might be completely pointless, but was thinking something along the lines of an option (eg by editing registry, or an ini file or something similar) of manually specifying your MP3 root folders (instead of, or supplementing what MF finds from the WMP library)?

Regardless of your take on the above, whats your paypal email address dude? I want to ping some gratituity your way.

Cheers,
Brett

Re: A couple of feature requests

Yeah, I second Destroy's idea : a possibility for list view (with album art picture). And in the current thumbnails view, what about displaying Album art for each track instead of the "not so good looking" standard grey icon you are using at the moment ?

Thanks again for this software. I couldn't keep on using my Music without genre/artist display. You made me happier with MCE2005.

Re: A couple of feature requests

I couldn't agree more, Musical Folders is great!

And I also agree I'd really really love to see these two additions:

- Choose your own root folder (regardless of what's chosen in WMP)

- Button go to to root (perfect when having deep folder structures... ;-)

Re: A couple of feature requests

Hi Daniel,
Awesome app, just installed it and now can actually be bothered using my mce for playing mp3's. Just one thing, would it be possible to have it work independant of MyMusic? Occasionally I plug in a USB HD or something other removable media and it would be nice if I could just navigate it as a drive rather than having to do the "add music" thing in MyMusic.

Thanks for the awesome app!

Mike

Re: A couple of feature requests

The only dependency it has on my music is the folder locations to search for music. I decided to do this as it was a lot easier for people to add. People can add folders though a MCE wizard instead of editing config files.
Thats it.
So if you plug in your drive, go into My Music and add that path to the list. Then that’s it.
When the dive is plugged in, it will show in Musical Folders. When it is not plugged in then it will not.
I hope that helps.
