Which Cpu?

G'day,
About to build first htpc, currently have :

Gigabyte ga-ma78gpm-ds2h mobo.

What would be the best option for a cpu to record dual hdtv/blueray/hddvd playback, and general pc work.

Amd athlon x2 5200+
or
Amd 4850E
or amd phenom x3 8450
Any help appreciated.

Re: Which Cpu?

I'd say the 4850e, or if you want more grunt, then a Phenom 9350 - it's a low power Phenom (sometimes known as a 9350e), but all will be fine.

Re: Which Cpu?

Yeah logifuse is on the money, the amd X2 cpus are really good value and much underated I think. Sure intel have faster cpus out atm but the price of the AMD and for what you are going to use it for in a HTPC where the video card does most of the work they are excellent. I am only using a 4400 and it is sweet as. If you can get the low power 4850e great otherwise a 5000 would be fine and dandy.
