GA-MA78GPM-DS2H and Antec Fusion V2 HDMI Audio

Hi,

I am in the process of my first HTPC build and I decided to go with the GA-MA78GPM-DS2H motherboard and the Antec Fusion V2 case.

I'm in the process of installing the components now and have a question regarding the HD/HDMI Audio please.

I have purchased an HDMI 1.3 cable to allow me to utilise the one connection for visual and audio to my Sony Bravia XBR.

The Antec case has two cables for audio - AC' 97 and HDA. I'm assuming I use the HDA, however I have noticed that the pin assignments in the motherboard manual and Antec manual appear to be slightly different:

Antec

Pin 1 - MIC2 L
Pin 2 - AGND
Pin 3 - MIC2 R
Pin 4 - AVCC
Pin 5 - FRO-R
Pin 6 - MIC2_JD
Pin 7 - F_IO_SEN
Pin 8 - Key (no pin)
Pin 9 - FRO-L
Pin 10 - LINE2_JD

GA-MA78GPM-DS2H

Pin 1 - MIC2_L
Pin 2 - GND
Pin 3 - MIC2_R
Pin 4 - -ACZ_DET
Pin 5 - LINE2_R
Pin 6 - GND
Pin 7 - FAUDIO_JD
Pin 8 - no pin
Pin 9 - LINE2_L
Pin 10 - GND

Is this OK?

Note - I have not completed the build as yet so it hasn't even been powered on but was something I noticed and wanted to check.

Thanks

Re: GA-MA78GPM-DS2H and Antec Fusion V2 HDMI Audio

that cable is for the front audio connectors.

on a lot of cases there is a headphone and microphone jack on the front of the computer case which makes it easier to connect a headphone or microphone (ie, no fiddling with the cables behind the computer)

firstly, since you are using HDMI audio, those pin outs may not work.
secondly, for a HTPC, i wouldn't expect you would need to use them...

so, unless you want to use them, don't worry about it

Re: GA-MA78GPM-DS2H and Antec Fusion V2 HDMI Audio

The HD audio driver that comes with the motherboard is a little older than current, so you may want to consider installing at least R2.00 of the realtek drivers, available on the realtek web site.

I'm using this with Catalyst 8.7 on Vista 32bit, all seems good so far...

As a side note, you may need to install the realtek drivers after the catalyst software (and reboot).

Cheers
