Gigabyte GA-MA78G-DS3H ATX Board

Hi Everyone,
Well I have given up on my Asrock board and after looking around have decided to go to the dark side and go with a AMD setup.
I have decided on the Gigabyte GA-MA78G-DS3H ATX board as I have a LC17 silverstone case which will handle full ATX. It is the big brother of the popular Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H Micro ATX board but check out the extra expansion slots and 6 SATA connectors
Will post how it goes once it arrives and is installed.
BTW I went for a AMD AM2 Athlon 64 X2 5200+ Dual Core , 2.7Ghz (65W) CPU and Corsair TWIN2X4096-6400C5 4GB (2x XMS2 2GB) PC-6400 (800MHz) DDR2 RAM.

I'm looking at the same board!!! Simply because I can put 2x tuners into the pcie 1x slots which I can't do on the m-atx board. Let me know how it goes, I'll hold my ordering until I see a post here

Hi Schnapper,

No worries will let you know how it goes, yes that was what sold it to me as well as I have had problems with my old Asrock board with the tuner in PCIe x16 slot and I have never been able to get two PCIe tuners to work because of it
Fingers crossed

Re: Gigabyte GA-MA78G-DS3H ATX Board

I have used the previous model GA-MA69G-S3H for the same reason. I also have the GA-MA69GM-S2H and they are identical to configure. I'd image that the 78G series will be the same.

Re: Gigabyte GA-MA78G-DS3H ATX Board

Hi blaize

I to am looking closely at this board as I also have an LC17 box, will be interested in your thoughts on the build and how well it runs? Was also looking at the GPM-DS2H as it has the side port memory but waiting to see how well it works, plus on the DS3H is the full ATX.....

Sorry guys have been away and managed to dislocate my knee so have not been near the media centre PC
Fits perfectly into the LC-17 case and setup went all ok. I have just got the basics working but it has been faultless other then when video was turned off by power saving it wouldn't come back on I just told it to never turn video off and have had no further problems S3 works fine and the 2200 tuner card seems alot more stable (I still have a bit of stutter but pretty sure this is a signal problem as we are in a black spot)
I am still to have e real tidy up and tweak but hope to get a chance for this over the week-end.
I got the board from my local computer shop, they had to order it in but only took a few days.
