GA-MA78GM-S2H and cooling

Hi all

I purchased one of these boards to upgrade my 2.5 year old media centre. I have a Silverstone LC-17 case with two 80mm case fans in the back, which have provided sufficient cooling to-date. However, the new mobo only has one SYS-FAN header (so only one fan running at the moment), and from looking at temps in SpeedFan, I'm running quite a bit hotter than I'd like (and than I have done previously).

Due to insufficient airflow, the OEM CPU cooler is spinning quite qucikly and generating a fair amount of noise. I need to get some more air circulating through the case, especially with two 1Tb and one 250Gb drives in there.

What options do I have for powering the second case fan? Any other suggestions?

Cheers

Re: GA-MA78GM-S2H and cooling

I have the same case and 2 HDDs, I recently removed one. I installed a noctua nh-u9b along with two noctua case fans pumping air into the front sitting behind some home made filters (old foam case packaging). I disconnected all the exhaust fans.

My cpu temp dropped 10C on average and the cpu fan doesn't run most of the time. When it does it is silent.
