GA-MA78GM-S2H updated mobo due end of July

Hello,

For those considering building a MCE computer like myself, I thought I'd point out that the 790GX chipset controlled motherboards maybe surfacing at the end of the month.

http://www.tweaktown.com/news/9640/a...ing/index.html

http://www.fudzilla.com/index.php?op...8325&Itemid=69

I think I'll wait to see what they are like. The specs look good. Does anybody know anything regarding release dates?

indeed does look interesting. Looks like they are claiming HDMI 1.3 support, time will tell if that includes 7.1 LPCM and bitstream Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA.

Agree but I don't think you'll see them on the shelves for at least a couple of months after official launch.

The GA-MA78GPM-DS2H is already launched and was available last month in the US but isn't due here until the end of this month.

I don't expect Gigabyte will want to replace it with the 790 version too quickly.

Looks nice though.

very interesting...i like the look of the mATX board...although, it is a DFI and they make some "interesting" (read : picky) motheboards.

the likes of ASUS/GB/MSI should be bringing out one aswell i would expect.

Agree, this is a very interesting motherboard for HTPC. If only they publish release dates.

The guys here are talking about the 790GX boards and that's the updated 780G board I mentioned earlier as having been on sale since last month in the US and is due here at the end of the month.

Re: GA-MA78GM-S2H updated mobo due end of July

Hi
This was a interesting reading about the MA790GP-DS4H . I have now purchased one but I have trouble to get this up and running. as a MCE-machine

Problem:
Video error
Files needed to display video are not installed or not working correctly. Please restart windows....

When I start a sample video in MCE or a Live TV session.
I can see TV with my native software for the floppyDTV card but not in mce ??

My install are as follow

1. Install a fresh copy of Vista 32 bit
2. Install system files for motherboard (AMD 7 series Utility DVD)
3. Install IR
4. Do a Windows Update > (Ghost copy)
5. Install VNC Prof
6. Install PowerDVD 8 (includes MPEG2 codec)
7. Install K-Lite Codec Pack Standard 4.1.7
8. Install the TV pack 2008
9. Install the hot fix for the TV pack , e.g. Kb951685 , kb950754
10. Install the floppyDTV drivers and software and select TV pack
11. Do a Windows Update, again

Maybe some one of your clever pc user will help me out with this.

I'm very gratfull for every hint /Kent

take it back to that point and test it...

you install a Codec Pack which can cause problems and you install an unreleased update (tv pack). Either of which could be breaking it
