Gigabyte GA-K8N low volume output

Hiya,

I've been running my HTPC for 2 years now and have been very happy with it; as spec'd below into a CRT Wide screen. But I've always had a low volume issue.

Yesterday I upgraded to an LG Scarlet 100Hz LCD it's fantastic. But the low volume issue is worse.

The Realtek HD Audio is set to 2 channel. I've tried various settings with no luck. The LCD does not have an SPDIF input so I can't go that way.

I see in the trouble shooting section of the MB manual they say that an amp may be required, but I'm dubious about this as I've never had volume issues from other gear connected to the TV. ie DVD player, DV camera, etc.

Would greatly appreciated any advice.

Cheers.

Re: Gigabyte GA-K8N low volume output

After advice from another forum I tracked the problem down to the AC3 Filter settings. Set the output to Loud and am now getting an acceptable volume level.
