No SPDIF output from GA-MA78GM-S2h motherboard

Hi everyone,
I have this motherboard connected up to my TV via HDMI cable and the audio works perfectly.

I have an old Denon receiver with no HDMI, and would like to connect the optical SPDIF output of the motherboard to this receiver.

There is no audio output from the optical port, and I did some research and most forums suggested using Realtek Audio Manager. I checked the motherboard manual and it also suggests that I should have Realtek Audio Manager appear as an icon in my taskbar.

The problem is, I don't see Realtek Audio Manager anywhere. I've un-installed / re-installed the Realtek Audio drivers that came with the motherboard CD, and I've even downloaded the latest version from the Gigabyte website, but I cannot see this Realtek audio manager.

Any suggestions ?
(I'm using Windows XP MCE 2005)

Does your TV have optical out? You might be able to run a lead from the TV to the amp.

I just set this up on my Vista machine today. I'm using drivers from the realtek website. They might give you the audio manager. Have a look in your control panel, I found that if I made the SPDIF audio the default then it all worked nicely.

I've been through control panel a dozen times.
Some commenters suggest I should be seeing an icon there for Realtek, but that is not the case.

I have clicked on sound and audio settings, and the only output device available in the drop down box is the Realtek HDMI.

And yes my TV does have a SPDIF out, I would have preferred to avoid using it, especially when playing music, but as a last resort, I might use it.

That might not work...

My old roommate's Sony Bravia had an optical out, but that would only output audio from the built in tuner, not the HDMI input.

try downloading the latest drivers from the realtek website (www.realtek.com.tw) and see how that goes.
