Motherboard connections

Hi, can anyone please help with the following connection issues during my pc build after manuals and websites didn't help:

1. The case Silverstone CW01 has a card reader with a 3 pin connector with labels VCC1, USB1-, and USB1+, plus a 1 pin connector labelled GND1. I'm not sure where this goes, there is no where specific on the motheboard (GA P35 DQ6). Does it go in a USB connection?

2. The Power LED connection has 1 pin x2 (+ & -), but on the board power LED has 3 pins. Have I got this wrong?

Thanks in advance

Re: Motherboard connections

1) Yes they go in a usb pin connector; Your mainboard manual should explain which pins are where.
2) The pins are held captive by a little bendy bit of plastic, get a small pointy thing and lever it out a little and make that sucker match the board.... just don't stick the small pointy thing into yourself in too big a hurry. I have many owies to show for a failure to heed my own advice in this regard.

Re: Motherboard connections

Your MB will have two or three onboard USB header connectors..

9 pins in total, one row of four, and one row of five. Use the row of five, the order is this...

VCC1, USB1-, USB1+, GND, Spare Pin 5 (spare pin has a blank space next to it - i.e the row of four has no pin 5)
The row of four is left alone.

For the Power LED, ignore the middle pin, and use pins 1 and 3. MB book will list one as +, doesn't matter if wrong, it just won't work, and so swap it.

Get the USB right though, wrong way round is not good.

Cheers
