USB ports dont work with MSI KT6V

Hi All,
I have a MSI KT6V (MS-7021) motherboard and have completed a clean install of MCE 2005 (SP2). Only problem is none of my usb ports work. I have plugged in two different mouse' but I get no power. I have looked in the BIOS and checked that USB is enabled but still nothing. I did buy this motherboard second hand from ebay and the description did say it was working and with no problems...but you never know.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Re: USB ports dont work with MSI KT6V

Hi juitz,

Don't know your board but would be checking to see if it has a jumper to set USB power, usually wanted for use with usb wake things. If the board is one that uses jumpers for this then the jumper should be there and it is not then this may be your problem.

Otherwise get a refund.

Craig.

Re: USB ports dont work with MSI KT6V

Hi,
My board doesnt have jumper to set USB power. I have connected a plug in optional USB connector which comes with the board, and this works. I plug anything into the inbuilt USB ports and the computer locks up. I upgraded BIOS but still no luck.
Im starting to think it may be my usb hardware as I have changed over motherbords (to one that did have jumpers) and the computer locked up when I plugged stuff in. Not everytime, but ocassionally. Weird stuff.
I'll probably stick with the MSI as it has SPDIF out which I want, and use a hub to connect all my usb devices to the workiing usb ports. Ive spent way too much on this already.
cheers,
juitz
