Hi all, just got my HTPC today and I have been busy setting it up. One problem I cannot fix is one to do with the sound. When Media Centre or Media Player is playing an MP3, I can hear the volume go up and down slightly. When I play the same MP3 in Media Player Classic, no problems. I have changed which MP3 codec MP is using and well as re-install K-lite codec pack a few times. I have been through all the MP settings and the SoundMAX settings and turned a heap of things on and off to no avail.
Dont know how many times it is said... stay away from klite... ffdshow is far better for divx compatibility... but why the need to play with codecs for mp3's - I think your just asking for trouble !

I have the speakers set up correctly, I am currently running just 2 speakers until my Optical out card arrives and I hook it up to the reciever - hopefully the problem will stop then.
Found a partial solution to this one. I now have the pc linked to me home theatre by SPDIF, it seems that the sound card is limiting the volume when it reaches a certain level. By lowering the volume of the 'Wave' input in the sound card settings and letting the surround reciever do all the amplification - the problem goes away.

This is interesting.
I had problems with mine (MCE2005) when setting up Replay Radio to record audio streams. It wouldn't believe that there was any audio to record (despite the fact that I could hear it). Eventually, I had to make sure every capture (record) 'device' was off, except for Stereo Mix, & wave was the only playback device. And even then, I had to set the levels pretty low.

Hey people I am just new to MCE and have recently had to rebuild my HTPC and got it right 3rd time brought it assembled and a runner just prior to christmas but when I went to install NAV 2007 norton would not work so after hours of frustration dealing with support out of India (read usless) decided to reformat. But anyhows I do not understand why anyone still uses Klite but why would you use it to sort problems with audio issues on an HTPC? Can someone please explain
