Is it possible to replace the battery holder in motherboard

I have an A8N-E motherboard with a missing vertical contact in the battery holder. Has anyone replaced a battery holder or contact?

...ah, no. I suspect that it would be a risky enterprise - MBs are multi layered and high density making work difficult and fraught. On the other hand if its already faulty... Let's see if anyone puts their hand up!

Re: Is it possible to replace the battery holder in motherboard

I've replaced components on a mobo before - it's not that hard if you're reasonably handy with a soldering iron. A solder sucker is a good idea when desoldering the components.

As for where to get a replacement battery holder, an old/dead mobo is probably the best & cheapest option - it gives you a chance to practice on the board too.

Re: Is it possible to replace the battery holder in motherboard

I'm curious to see if you could simply put solder where you're missing that vertical contact. I solder all of the time but not usually u-fab electronics, like mobos. I haven't really taken a deep, hard look at motherboards. If you do try to solder back a vertical contact, you could possible short out a part of the board. Same goes for replacement, too much solder could cause shorts.
