antec nsk2400 + Am2 X2 3600+ = noisy :(

Hi Guys

Help me please. Seems as though this combo is not as quiet out of the box. What fans do I need to replace to make this thing quiet?

I think most of the noise are coming from the AMD cpu stock fan so I need to replace this first. SUggestions please.

Thanks for that.

Anyone using the Zalman CNSP8000? Any opinion on its noise level?

Thanks

You'll definitely find that stock CPU coolers suck! Or blow... or well, they're loud!

I have a Zalman AlCu7000 and definitely would recommend any Zalman cooling products. No direct experience with the one you're looking at, but it's a Zalman. It's sure to be good. Mine came with a fan controller (FanMate2), which does wonders for an already quiet fan.

In addition to the CPU fan, you could probably switch out all of the intake and exhaust fans and maybe a fan controller for all of those.

The only moving parts in my system are the HDDs, DVD writer, PSU, CPU fan, and two rear fans. The hard drives and DVD writers are silent until read or write, and are pretty quiet then, too. The PSU makes basically no noise. CPU fan and case fans all have fan controllers and are set to the slowest speed.

Good luck on your endeavors!

Hi lesven,

I was unhappy with the stated db for most of the ready built cooling options for my AM2 X2 3800 so opted for the more expensive route of a thermaltake XP-90C heat sink, AM2 adapter and 92 mm 14db SilenX fan, works like a dream.

I have one of those and on the lowest speed it's pretty much silent and on the highest speed it's still not too loud. Only thing you might want to check is the clearance around your CPU socket for the cnps8000 locking mechanism, I had to "modify" one of the clips on it to fit around the motherboard components. Have you looked at these http://www.pccasegear.com/prod4619.htm ?
They look pretty good and are apparently very quiet and perform well.
