Question Re: Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT MCE Edition

Hi,

Is anyone using the non-MCE version?

I just read a review (http://www.biosmagazine.co.uk/rev.php?id=448) that says that you can't record two programs at once.

Can anyone confirm/deny this?

Thanks !!

Re: Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT MCE Edition

After making sure this would fit in my case(it scrapes in) I bit the bullet and ordered one... I hope I wont have to wait too long. Our main HTPC has been without a tuner for 3 weeks now, 'tis unnatural

cheers

If you try the beta software on the Terratec website you can record two programs at once.

Re: Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT MCE Edition

w00t ! I received this only 5 days after ordering it I was all excited that finally my dedicated HTPC will have a tuner - after being devoid of one for weeks

In the excitement I installed powerDVD, and the drivers - only to get an "out of video memory" error. I have 128mb on board memory and was thinking this was the culprit... and the danger of taking an axe to the htpc was increasing

I then remembered 2 things:
1) Past experiences with powerdvd has been rife with hassles
2) I already had purevideo installed anyway

thus I uninstalled powerdvd and VOILA, it works fine. Channel changes slightly slower than what Im used to on avermedia but both tuners work and record fine.

=HAPPY CAMPER.

Recommended bit of kit. Setup extremely easy. This card was truly built for MCE.

tip: if you are already happy with whatever decoder you are using, dont bother installing powerDVD - it only leads to stress

Go out and get one !!

>>now, to do epg etc

EDIT:
EPG(using free epg) works great. recorded two programs at once no probs, no extra apps or installation reqd apart from initial driver installation.

Finally, my HTPC is complete !

*skips off into sunset in joy*

cheers

Re: Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT MCE Edition

What do you think the channel switching time is?

I almost bought one of these but chickened out and went for the Divco dual - Big mistake!

Re: Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT MCE Edition

Just a heads up for people not wanting the hassle of importing directly from Terratec. I've found an online store, Hip Gizmos selling the 2400i with remote for $199.

I've never bought from this store before so, ‘caveat emptor’.

I agree, big mistake. Channel swapping on the same tuner is very quick. If it has to swap to the other tuner it takes about 1 second.

It is when your only option is to do an international bank transfer from a country such as Australia that doesn't support IBAN bank transfers. As such you're left wondering for several days whether the recieving bank will deduct IMT/Currency conversion fees leaving your payment short.

Then of course there is the waiting for an international shippment and potentially having to make an insurance claim with a foreign delivery service if it doen't turn up.

Good enough explaination? I'm just offering information for anyone who may want to use it. You have the option of disregarding any posts that aren't of benefit to you. lolz...

Re: Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT MCE Edition

bank transfers internationally ? Transfers are often slower and attract secondary fees. This is what visa debit cards are for akuma(if you dont like credit cards of course).

I was mightily impressed with Terratec. They provided tracking no etc, secure transaction via Visa etc. SUPER quick international delivery and not at an extravagant price.

But hey, if you can get it here - what the heck

cheers

Re: Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT MCE Edition

I have been plagued with stutter problems; it seems as if my motherboard PCIE X1 slot was acting like a PCI slot the new wireless card fixed the problem for about a week…

The real solution was simple, disable the onboard LAN, not in device manager but in the bios, somehow the onboard LAN, wireless, and TV card don’t work well together... and well if u need the LAN just disable the wireless…

Problems exist with:
Netgear WG311v3 or Belkin F5D7000au v4001
ASUS P5LD2 (non Core Duo revision)
Terratec 2400i

Anyone knows what the little black jumper setting on the 2400i does?? I changed it to see what it does but never got in to windows because the card started to smell like it was burning????
