Re: Asus M2N VM DH AM2 Motherboard

Hi guys,

I have recently purchased the ASUS M2N mobo. It has one coax SPDIF on the back panel, and it also has a second header on the board. Does anybody Know where you can get the spdif module cheeply to provide a second spdif out. I need one for my amp & one for my tv. I've searched around the net, but haven't found much.

Thanks
Phil

ASUS sell the module separately- $38.00 quoted by my reseller. See Shopbot

You can also get it on ebay and from a number of on-line resellers. When I was looking prices were $28.00 to $39.00 plus P & P. The fools on ebay want $15.00 to $25 for that, which blows the price.

Some go to Jaycar etc, buy the Toslink bits and pieces and make their own. There shouldn't be much to it as the header configuration isn't complex, ground, +5v and SPDIF out (see the MOBO guide)-

As said, I use a conversion box.

I just installed the Graphics (GeForce) and Chipset (Forceware) drivers from the NVIDIA site and everything works fine.

Aero works. Live TV works.

Sorry can't help with the compro.

Regards,

Brock

Red face Re: Asus M2N VM DH AM2 Motherboard

Hey All:
I'm thinking about getting the M2N-VM DH board soon, but. . . . . . .
First of all you can't buy it on this side of the pond (USA, Canada, Mexico) and
Second: I will wait till Vista has it's first patch out, which from what I've heard will be in second half of this year. That we will see.
I am also thinking about the ABIT board AN-M2 mATX.
Note: "Abit NF-M2 nView was replaced by the Abit AN-M2 mATX motherboard." because this board was nice but had a few problems and it's replacement should be much better. of that we will see also.
Either way, it is very hard to get any real life experience info on this ASUS board.
The reason I like this board besides the micro size is I can get my self set-up for Vista32 and when Vista64 it supported enough, I can quickly change from 32 to 64 with hopefully minor problems.
I do know the next Operating System Miceosoft "Vienna" will only be 64 bit, so might as well get set-up to adapt to it when timming is right.
