x264 content crashes MP

Got a weird problem with my HTPC.

I finally removed my GF8500GT and am now just using on-board HDMI.

But since I have, episodes I'm watching in x264 .mkv files are crashing MP.

I thought it might be driver related, so installed the latest NV GF8200 drivers and first reboot it worked fine. Next time I rebooted, stopped working.

So I thought it might be codecs, so uninstalled all my old ones, rebooted, installed CCCP, and it played. Next reboot, MKV's stopped playing. So I uninstalled CCCP and tried ... err some Vista Codec Pack (can't remember it's exact name) and same behaviour. Worked first time, next reboot, stopped working.

It's driving me bloody batty, as can't figure out what's causing it, except the only change was DSUB via 8500GT to HDMI via GD8200.

Anyone got any suggestions please?

(PS: Specs are in profile)

Re: x264 content crashes MP

Just for completeness, I solved the problem by doing a clean re-installing MP.

I was using RC3 at the time and RC4 had come out.

Here's a tip .... make sure you backup your data files.

Took forever to rescan MPTVSeries and Moving Pictures!

Now I gotta upgrade to 1.0!
