Internet TV to Windows Media Center

As Written By Darren Murph from engadget.com
During our chat with Microsoft today, we got wind of a brand new feature coming to Windows Media Center, and it's slated to hit just as D-Link and Linksys get official with their Media Center Extenders. Reportedly, Microsoft plans on unleashing Internet TV on or around September 27th, which will enable Media Center users to watch a variety of on-demand, ad-supported content free of charge. While details were kept slim, we do know that content will fall into Sports, Entertainment, News, Top Picks, Music and Movies categories. Additionally, the videos will reportedly be "better than SD quality, but not HD," although HD programs could certainly emerge in the future. Best of all, this feature will simply be delivered as a normal software update, and while it seems that we'll have to wait until Digital Life before we know any more, feel free to peep the gallery below for a few shots of the Internet TV beta in action.

But now begs the question will us Aussie's get this service?? I have contacted Microsoft about this and I am waiting to hear back from them (if I do is another story)

This service is of no use to us in Australia where ISPs provide a service with Gb/per month.

It would be a different story if this sort of service didn't count towards peoples download limit

And where ISPs like to prioritise protocols depending on what they see as fit and proper use despite already limiting downloads.

This maybe a bit of topic but how come Australian ISP has a limit on how much you are allowed to download?

i believe its because of Australias isolation and the cost of getting the data here..

Re: Internet TV to Windows Media Center

I believe it's because Telstra has a monopoly on the communications infrastructure in this country and charge other providers an arm and a leg for bandwidth. So they have to limit downloads.

Just look at the ADSL2+ download limits for companies that don't use Telstra equipment.

Agreed, this is a complete waste of time here unless our ISP's are able to make the content not count towards data limits.
