Folder Share

Overview
FolderShare allows you to create a private peer-to-peer network(s) that will enable you to share, access and synchronize files across multiple devices with colleagues and friends. You no longer need to send large files via email, burn them to CDs/DVDs and mail them, or upload them to a website. FolderShare allows you to share and sync important information instantly with anyone you invite, making it the perfect solution for personal or small business use.

Why is it better than FTP or other solutions?
FolderShare does much more than move files from computer A to computer B. Unlike FTP programs, FolderShare allows you to create a library of your files that you can download and modify from anywhere without having to use a special program. FolderShare can automatically keep the contents of folders on multiple computers synchronized. FolderShare works in the background to automatically recognize modified files and auto-upload them to other computers connected to your library.

Is FolderShare secure?
FolderShare is a secure peer-to-peer system. Only you and your invited members can view or access files in your FolderShare library. FolderShare encrypts all files and messages exchanged on our network to ensure user privacy. All P2P communication on FolderShare is authenticated via RSA and encrypted via AES over SSL.

Why Should I use it?
- Synchronize all your devices - Retrieve work files at home or access photos at work. With your devices in sync, you no longer have to be frustrated that your information is on another computer.
- Share files, photos, and home videos with your peers - Select the content you want to share, invite members, and they will be able to access the shared files directly from their device.
- Access your computer or device remotely - FolderShare mobile access allows you to access your computer from any web browser.

Any restrictions?
Share files up to 2 GB in size
Unlimited file transfers - no limits on quantity or size of files transferred
Any file type - files are synced and transferred in their original format

How much does FolderShare cost?
There is no charge to use FolderShare.

Re: Folder Share

Before I cop a lashing about this being "old news", I know it was around in 2005 under another crowd, but this version is apparently in beta under Windows Live. and given that many people here like to share certain stuff - I figured it might be an item of interest.

I've just started playing with it and it's pretty sweet

I think the Live.com version is a "by invitation only" closed beta - and also it isn't "officially" available downunder.

What's strange is that the "foldershare.com" option is available to everyone if they are planning to roll them both into one offering

Re: Folder Share

Forgive my ignorance - is this just like a 'SharePoint' for home users?

Yes it probably is a market for the less computer literate.

Just installed it. Can someone send me his e-mail in order to add it to my invitation list and see if it works?

Talking Re: Folder Share

You can also do this folder share stuff directly in Windows Live Messenger. I use it for photo sharing with the Grandparents. Very easy!
