Windows Live Folders Beta

Microsoft is getting ready to release its new online storage service called Windows Live Folders and rumoured for a long time to be part of the Windows Live services suite. Initially it will allow users to store 500MB online, but since this will be a beta this limit will be higher in the actual service, and probably you could even purchase additional storage.

FolderShare promised lots because of its delta sharing capabilities, though Microsoft removed that functionality because it was based on open-source in the original software. Windows Live Folders allows you to create private, public and shared folders. Everything is done through the browser.

Though Microsoft hasn't commented on this, most likely you will have a package of something free and most likely ad-supported. The website at http://folders.live.com/ link is down at the moment look out for a update for when the site is active and beta sign ups are available.

Anyone been able to login to Windows Dead Folders yet ;-) Just times out for me ever since it was announced. You would think MS would put a bit of effort into this because Google will not have rescource problems when they get going from past experience.

Re: Windows Live Folders Beta

From memory Oracle tried to do this years ago, when an interviewer asked the then Oracle CEO if he would store his personal data on an online storage facility the CEO said no.

Thumbs down Re: Windows Live Folders Beta

I'll pass thanks, there are plenty of other ways to back up data other than sending it off to a 'secure' server
