Oh what the heck - I've ordered one! $103 inlcuding air express and insurance... hehehe - Will they honor their mistake at that price?

That price looks about right for the OEM version, it just won't have the pretty blue and green oddly shaped box that the retail ones ship in

Re: New Media Center Keyboard From Microsoft

I was gunna say at $199 bucks it is too expensive as it is but I guess its not too bad if you can get one for around the 100 bucks mark.

Didnt I see a nice RF keyboard/mouse reviewed here for under $100??

if the MCE Keyboard was active from boot, so I could adjust BIOS settings (hey, sometimes it happens) without having to find another keyboard I could justify it. ANyone know f it does ?

Hi OBM

My guess is that with the IR receiver being dependant on a Windows driver, I would be surprised if it worked pre-OS boot.

I always wondered if I would use the front USB ports on my MCE box, and between keyboards, USB memory etc, I am glad as hell they are there.

Re: New Media Center Keyboard From Microsoft

How's about I answer that in the next couple of days?

Brent from Microsoft has sent me a unit to review which he tells me will be received either today or tomorrow (or next week if the courier gets lost )

So as soon as I can get my hands on this little hottie I'll answer that question - although I'm betting that imelda is on the money given that it's an IR unit - RF wouldn't have been a problem.

So kiddlywinks - go sit in the corner and drool for a day or so

Re: New Media Center Keyboard From Microsoft

I've ordered one for $95 from Computer Target in Sydney. It's due for public release in about 1-2 weeks (mid August), so I should get it soon.

Mike, have you got your review model yet?

I have - and I can say that it's a really nice keyboard but it appears that the IR rollup has not fixed a niggly "mouse" control problem I encountered and so I've delayed the review until that's fixed which I understand will be before the product is released.

Also, I'd be surprised if the $99.00 price you mentioned is correct

Re: New Media Center Keyboard From Microsoft

Will this come with it's own IR recevier? Or will I have to buy the traditional remote also. Extra programmable keys would be a great bonus. I need one to turn the amp on and off as well as the TV.

It uses the receiver from the MS remote, the thumb nipple seems to be much more sensitive to IR receiver placement than the keys.

I need to verify the the learning capabilities, but it seems to be the same, and from memory it has the learning instructions on the back of the keyboard. Will verify...
