great I have been interested in WHS from the get go. MS is pushing its relative user friendliness, we'll have to wait and see...

Interesting, you seemed pretty cluey with server 2003 and DFS etc already.... I imagined that you had already built an equivalent solution yourself

Servers and the like are one of the grey spots of my knowledge - so a solution aimed at average user appeals to me(and my clients)

Thanks for the post JNRidgeway - I've been keen on this since I saw it come out, but didn't realise the Beta was ready for trial

Love the thought of a home Windows server without having to sign up to msdn etc. Will be interesting to see how the client licenses are handled (ie same as win2k3? server licence comes with x client ones, then buy in packs of 5+)

Can't imagine a CAL setup for a home product.
Can imagine the Redmond police barging in to Joe Citizen's home to do a license audit

Re: Windows Home Server Beta Sign Up

There will probably be a hard limit on licences. A home server is likely to support no more than 4 or 5 machines at one time. Which kinda sucks since I know more than a few people one laptop per person in a 5 person household, and there is always at least one desktop machine.
