Firstly, thanks to Matt Goyer's MCE blog for the solutions.

You can also see screenshots for these instructions at the MCEWorld Blog

Hello everyone, thanks for all excellent guide info. Here's a related question to "dvd folders", i.e. folders with .avi or .mpg files (e.g. DivX/Xvid). This is what I tried in terms f directories and files. I connected my DivX folder to the Pictures & Videos Library (BTW, why aren't those separated ?). An example of my DivX folders:

Clint Eastwood (folder)
...Folder.jpg (with an appropriate cover of Clint)
...Dirty Harry (folder)
......Folder.jpg (with the appropriate cover for the Dirty Harry movie)
......Dirty Harry.avi
...Sudden Impact (folder with similar contents as above)
etc....

It all works wll at the top folder level (with the exception of MC cutting my nice JPGs into a small subset). But when I come to the lowest level then the avi is shown with some icon that has nothing to do with the Folder.jpg I have put there (it seems to be some exract from the movie)!

What I expected is to have the movie starting when I click on the selection a level up
i.e. the same behavior you get with DVD files (after you've done the RegEdit in the post above). E.g. when I'm at the Clint Eastwood level (in this example) I see the nice Folder.jpg images I have created, one for each movie. When I click on one I want the movie to start, not to get the movie listed again with the wrong icon. Is that doable ?

Thanks for all the help this site has provided!

Re: Guide: DVD Cover Art Library in Vista

the DVD library and video library are setup differently Im afraid. The best hope we have of achieveing something like that with video files is with a third party app like MyMovies...or might I suggest you wait until Niall releases his Big Screen Movies app

In the interim, just trim your folder pics to fit that smaller rectangular folder view

Re: Guide: DVD Cover Art Library in Vista

Hello, not sure of this is the right thread, but here are three other things that I can't get to work:

1) When I added a bunch of DVDs to my library, Vista didn't recognize them at all, they don't show up, although they have VOBs etc. Tried to Stop Monitoring this folder then Start again, but the same result. Any tricks to this ? Or any special file MCE needs ? I unpacked a bunch of .IMG and .ISO using WinRAR.

2) Are all Libraries pooled ? I wanted to have one for DVDs that only show up in the Play DVD option, then others for DivX in the Pictures+Videos options, but it seems all folders show up in each place. Does it have to be this way ?

3) I'm trying to get MCE to work with an ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro in Extended mode (i.e. show the video on the TV monitor but not on the PC monitor. I can only get it to work in Clone mode. The MCE Setup TV and Monitor dialog is a bit strange, it asks if you want it to show the video on the first (PC) monitor. If you say No, then you're back to the start, i.e. a loop. Doesn't MCE support Extended mode ?

Many thanks for any help!
