Scanning problems - Think the guide is the problem

Hi all,

I have had a look for the answer to this to no avail so hopefully one of you MCE genius' can shed some light. I am running BRP and OxTivo for data. I am living in East Victoria and receive a local Digital signal but the guide data is from an area that has same programming but different frequencies for the channels (poor signal). The problem I am having is that when I scan for services, I can not pick up ANY local frequencies, only the ones from the Latrobe valley and I cant help thinking it has something to do with the guide data forcing MCE to search that frequency range. Any clues anyone......very frustrated.

Cheers...

Re: Scanning problems - Think the guide is the problem

It's quite possible that the guide listings are causing the issues. I know when I don't have a guide set-up I only get half the channels I do when I have one installed.

Why not try using FreeEPG instead of bladerunner and OzTivo. It contains all the Oztivo feeds, but is so much easier to install and use.

I was just contemplating that. I will give it a try right now.

OK Tried that but it still comes up with the channels I dont want (no Frequencies). Is there some way to flust all the guide data and MCE "memory" of these channels out of its system??

Re: Scanning problems - Think the guide is the problem

When you scan, select delete all channels first. That'll clear the current list, then do a full scan.

Re: Scanning problems - Think the guide is the problem

Done that, even did a reboot in between and it still just brings up the same channels. It must be recorded in a file in MCE somewhere. It was all working perfectly on the local channels before I did a rescan for ABC when they chnged to ABC1 and ABC2, 3.

Re: Scanning problems - Think the guide is the problem

OK Fixed the problem! It appears I dont understand how MCE decides what to scan. In Edit channels, if you dont have a tick in the frequencies you want, it wont pick them up in the scan. Conversely you cant get them in the edit channels area until you have scanned! Go figure. Anyway problem solved! Thanks for the help.
