Avoid re-scan after installing BRPro??

I just installed BRPro+ OzTivo Extreme follow the instructions and was wondering if you actually have to re-scan all the channels again after setting up the EPG?

I had several failed attempts at doing this before with lost channels and channels getting mixed up but eventually I got it right and I think it's because of the actual frequencies that I have now.

The thing is, I've had to restore a backup of my system which was created before getting the epg to work. I went through the whole process of setting up epg, scanning channels, etc and again ran into the same problems as I did a while ago. I can't remember exactly which frequencies of each channels I kept but I have them on my system now and don't want to install BR and OzTivo only to fidn it craps out again.

Any help would certainly be appreciated.

Re: Avoid re-scan after installing BRPro??

Well I just went ahead and tried again but lost most of my channels again.
I also had this issue trying to use FreeEpg so it really sucks. WTF can I do now!!

It seems that during this whole 'trying to stop my channels from geting screwed' episode, eventually MCE freezes and I get a debug message before closing the process down. It says:

Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.
Process id= 0xfec (4076), Thread id=0xfe8 (4072).....WTF is that supposed to mean.

And it only happens after I have installed BRPro/OzTivo. Without these and no guide configured, I don't get the debug. But then I can't get the "Unable to download guide info...blah blah blah **** to disappear.

My god I hate these things!!!!!

Re: Avoid re-scan after installing BRPro??

Well I assume that the debug problem must be related to how BRP is seeing the channels in relation MCE so I think I need to get that right first.

To expand on the problem...I have no issues installing BRP/OzTivo, it's when I go into MCE guide setup.

I put in 'EPGData' as provider, postcode as '0000 ......then scan channels and end up with about 22 services. Then I 'Edit Channels' to ones I want (choosing the ones with the frequencies for my area), change channel order and then 'Get latest guide listings' which downlaods successfully.

The next step is I go to 'Add listings' and that where the problems begin. I try to align the listing to each channel correctly but after saving, some channels just disappear!

I've been researching for days but can't find a solution. I was thinking perhaps it was related to differences between my MCE channels and what is in channelinfo.xml but I'm not sure on how or what I should be checking.

It's pretty cold and lonely in this section of the forums so I hope someone maybe able to help soon.
