EPG screwing with channels

G'day,

I am at the point of wanting to break my machine in half, something I really don't want to do so please help!

I am attempting my setup with Oztivio free EPG. I have to Avermedia 777 tuner cards, the signal on these is fine. When I select I do not want to use the Guide I can scan for channels and it easily goes through the process finding all channels (or about 26 services).

The following is what I have been doing when trying with the guide:

1. Go through guide process
2. It finds all the channels
3. I deselect all channels and then just select the ones I want (ABC, ABC2, SBS, 7, 9, 10)
4. I move ABC2 to a better position (problems still occur regardless of if I leave this where it is assigned)

Now sometimes with this process the scan will get stuck at around 12% and not complete, or it will all work fine and then when watching tv it will loose a channel and I will go back to edit channels and it will say 'not configured' usually channel 10 is the culprit, or thirdly it will loose all the channels together so I have nothing.

Another problem is that it will crash (Eshell.exe error) when trying to edit channels, giving the process id = 0x830 (2096) Thread id = 0x834 (2100)

Any help will be greatly appreciated, the EPG is one of the things which makes MCE great, and when it is not working it is a pain in the arse cause one you can't rely on it, and two it screws with live tv

Cheers
Sam

Re: EPG screwing with channels

Any help anyone?

I can get the EPG up and running successfully and goes fine for the few days it is current to, but then as soon as I have to update and download the new guide for the next 14 days I loose chanels, very, very annoying. I seem to have tried everything on the forum and nothing seems to work, please point me to the appropriate thread if you think I have missed something. I have used the MCE Registry Hacker Tool to enable the EPG

Thanks again
Sam

Re: EPG screwing with channels

I had a problem with my guide getting screwed up every few days or so, it would rearrange all my channels to the initial ones it found. my solution was to use channel changer (in the download section) to rearrange the channels to the channel number i wanted abc - 1, abc2 - 2, sbs - 3, prime - 7, win - 9, sc10 - 10.
also edited in channel changer the guide names to reflect when channels it scanned.

eg: win tv (from guide) became win tv upper murray (from scanned channels)

then i put null characters AGAINST all the channels i didn't want

eg: win tv hd became xxx, after doing this a scan of channels never showed them in the found channel list during a scan.

channel changer changes only come into affect after a guide update, so update the guide, assign listings, rearrange to my liking and it never gets upset again.

one other problem i always had was a initial scan would never show sc10, fixed that by buying a cheap adjustable signal booster from Big W ($30). i would scan at low gain and find all channels except sc10, then wind boost up to max db gain and scan again and find sc10. after that was complete i could disconnect booster and system worked with all channels .... weird but it works for me
