What is with the No Channels thing , sick of it!

Moving my post to here.

A few times now in the last 8 months of MCE usage I've encountered the "No Channels - No channels are available in the Guide" problem, and it offers a shortcut to rescan - WTF

How the heck is it losing the channels and where is it losing them from ?
Can I simply save a file or reg entry then restore it should this happen again ?

I'm using Oztivo and FreeEPG and a ComproT300 tuner.

Thanks

Re: What is with the No Channels thing , sick of it!

I went in to Settings, found the channels were still listed in "Edit Channels" but the Change channel order screen said they were all Not Configured. I went back into Edit Channels and chose Save and this restored everything back to normal.

Atleast I've found a quick solution.

Re: What is with the No Channels thing , sick of it!

frustrating isnt it??

The only way I personally have found as a work around to this problem (it doesnt fix it, but occurs almost never now), is to configure MCE to not have an always on internet connection, and to manually download guide updates (I use ICE, but I found this happened no-matter what EPG I used).
Really no biggie as MCE will warn you anyway when your guide data is old and you can always just go and download the latest from one of the guide menus (forget which one).

Minor inconvenience for having no loss of channels and/or guide data.

Hope it helps.

Re: What is with the No Channels thing , sick of it!

So you think it may be a guide issue rather than MCE having problems with the info that tells it what scanned channels you have ?

Re: What is with the No Channels thing , sick of it!

well touchin wood as i say this, using free epg this was happening once a week, so I got rid of that installed ICE TV for a free 2 months subscription , and found it never lost the channels once !, after 2 months was up im a stingy bastardo, I uninstalled it and put free epg on, and for 2 weeks it hasnt lost channels at all (touch wood again) so ICE TV has something in it to make it not do it, and when u uninstall it it still works for other guides, so get ice tv u get 2 months free, no CC needed, athen after 2 months install the free epg one again and your problems will be over

Peace out Homie
