Response from Helen Coonan

Hello Lads,

Back in November 06, I wrote to Helen Coonans office giving her a bit of a spray about the EPG situation in Australia and asking what the government was doing to hold the TV stations accountable. I received a weak response initially, but today I received the attached letter from her office.

Can anyone provide any info on this new ACMA mob? Do we know if this body will have any teeth or actually take on the TV stations re their guide data?

Cheers
Kathlik.

Re: Response from Helen Coonan

The ACMA has been around for a long time under different names (eg ACA). It all sounds a bit wish washy and I doubt that it will force the television networks to release their "(C)" information. Whatever you do make sure you don't hold your breath.

Re: Response from Helen Coonan

ACMA = the former ACA (Australian Communications Authority & before that Austel) + the former ABA (Australian Broadcasting Authority). Same you know what different smell.
