Having probs - MCE scans but no services show up

Hi all

I've installed a Hauppauge Nova T500 dual tuner card with XP Media Centre edition. MCE recognises the tuner card with dual tuners but when it performs scan it doesn't actually find any services to associate to the channels.

I haven't dl RU2 or installed it.....could that be the problem?

Any other help would be greatly appreciated as I'm yet to get it working and I just can't wait.

Cheers

Justin

Molly, you will have to install RU2 because you will have the latest Nova drivers installed.

Why didn't you install ru2?

Re: Having probs - MCE scans but no services show up

To be honest I didn't know it existed until I read a couple of posts in this forum. I had to actually look up what ru2 stood for....but now that I know I better get on and see if I can dl it and install it and see if it fixes my problems.

Thanks for the reply

Justin

I have since installed Vista so hopefully I won't need help in this area anymore....cheers

Re: Having probs - MCE scans but no services show up

My HTPC has just lost any ability to scan the channels.

And I have RU2 installed.

I'm a little lost right now.

I had the same problem with my card, I have a digital now card.

Try the following;
* use a different codec (im using Nvidia purevideo)
* use the MCE reset tool

After doing these two things, i was able to pickup channels.

Also, if the channel scanning goes straight from 0 to 100%, it's an MCE/Windows thing, not your card.

If the channel scanning is actually taking its time to scan, then it's your card so try using a different video codec.

Thanks mvpeterson

I ended up using the MCE reset tool, and all was OK.

Cheers, Banjo
