Merge 2 xml-files.

Hi folks.

Im using BladeRunnerPro with an external grabber called O2grabber which creates a xml-file called "listing2.xml"
It all works totally fine.

But now I found another grabber which I allso could use, but after a talk with the moderator Monster he told me that BladeRunnerPro could not read from two different xml-files.
He gave me antoher advise instead.....

He told me that I might could have someone to create a utility that could merge 2 xml-files.
So I'm begging for someone who can do this kind of work.

Kindly regards

Re: Merge 2 xml-files.

I found a program called "EXAMxml" which merges 2 xml-files quite easy.

Now I just have to get the xml-file into BRP... How is that working???
It used to run the grabber, but now I just need it to run the xml-file instead...

Any ideas ???

Re: Merge 2 xml-files.

I've been merging 3 epgs into bladerunner.. you just have to create a bat file to first grab your 2 xml's then merge them, outputting as listing2.xml, lastly call bladerunner to do it's thing

The problem with the epg merger I wrote is it is widows based not DOS so I haven't perfected the automatic stuff yet

Re: Merge 2 xml-files.

Sorry for the double posting, I was desperate...

It sounds great to hear, that other people allso been merging xml-files in mce.

When you say - "just have to create a bat-file" I'm allready in trouble coz I don't know how... But this is'nt so importent yet anyway, first of all I'd like to see if my merged xml-file works...

But I dont know how to setup BRP to use my xml-file as I allso called listing2.xml
How do I do ??
I do know how to setup BRP when it have run a grabber, but now it just have to read my merged xml-file renamed to "listing2.xml"

PS:
What are you using to merge your xml-files ?
I think I could have a problem, coz my xml-files ain't written on the same way.
Here is a test from each grabber, do you thin they can be merged ?
File 1:
http://www.gags.dk/mce-epg/o2grabber.xml

File 2:
http://www.gags.dk/mce-epg/skygrabber.xml

Re: Merge 2 xml-files.

I am using guickguide now, but I think you want to remove anything from the post per and grabber sections, if your lstings2.xml is there it should do the rest.

make sure you edit your channel list as well

Okay, let me know if I understood this right
You mean I dont have to run BRP, if just its installed and I've put the listing2.xml the right place.

Re: Merge 2 xml-files.

I've tried it now and it did'nt work...
But I guess I have to do something with BRP or my merged xml file ai'nt working...
And my ChannelInfo.xml i allso changed.

The new merged xml file is written like this
http://home.no/lunapark/listing2.xml
First all the text from my sky grabber, and later all the text from my o2grabber (nordic channels)

Ohh im afraid its the xml data from one of the grabbers it can't read...
Coz the data from one of the grabbers is appearing fine...

Do you know any grabbers for UK SKY then, thats should work ??

Re: Merge 2 xml-files.

Here is my ChannelInfo.xml
http://home.no/lunapark/ChannelInfo.XML

And I get EPG fine on channel 1-13 but from channel 14 starts the Sky channels and there is no EPG..
Do you have any suggestions...
Btw what was it you merged your xml-files with ??

Re: Merge 2 xml-files.

you still have to run BRP, you just want to remove the stuff from the "Grabbers" section in the BRP configurator.

Also, your channel list doesn't match your merged xml...

you have a long ways to go

Re: Merge 2 xml-files.

ok, I've tried that, but then it came up with some errors.. That's probably because your saying my ChannelInfo.xml is'nt correct.

But I can't see whats wrong...
I know that I only tried with a few channels in ChanneInfo from Skygrabber, but I guess they should work any way.
And the order of the channels in listing2.xml does'nt matter, does it ??

Re: Merge 2 xml-files.

here,

suppose you had XML1 like this:
Code:

 <display-name>1st Chan</display-name>

<programme start="20070129070000 +0100" stop="20070129091000 +0100" channel="somechan">

En lang forlovelse

 </programme>
and xml 2 like this:

Code:

 <display-name>2nd Chan</display-name>

<programme start="20070129070000 +0100" stop="20070129091000 +0100" channel="anotherchannel">

FooBar

 </programme>
your merged epg should look like this:
Code:

 <display-name>1st Chan</display-name>

 <display-name>2nd Chan</display-name>

<programme start="20070129070000 +0100" stop="20070129091000 +0100" channel="anotherchannel">

FooBar

 </programme>
<programme start="20070129070000 +0100" stop="20070129091000 +0100" channel="somechan">

En lang forlovelse

 </programme>
and your channel list like this:
Code:

 <channelID>somechan</channelID>
 <virtualchannel>1</virtualchannel>

 <channelID>anotherchannel</channelID>
 <virtualchannel>2</virtualchannel>

It must maintain this structure and all channelid's must be unique.

Hope this helps

Re: Merge 2 xml-files.

Yes thank you...
Its probaly the tool I'm using for merging the files, that are merging in the wrong way.
What did you use for merging xml automatically? Maybe your tool is better then.

Re: Merge 2 xml-files.

I wrote it myself in Visual Basic, I don't think it would work for you because you have an australian epg.
