Xbox, Anybody in Melbourne offer an upgrade service to set up media centre

Hello,
I bought the xbox and hdd a while back and my mate was going to help me set things up. He has now moved overseas, so I have hardware, but dont know what to do next.

Just a couple of queries:
Do I need to update the CPU on this unit?

I have a topfield 7100 PVR which is networked and also has USB for additional storage. Will I be able to use the Xbox as external storage for the 7100? The reason for this is I want to be able to take the xbox away on the weekend after having downloaded programmes to it from both the topfield and files downloaded from the internet.

IS THERE ANYWHERE IN MELBOURNE I CAN PAY SOMEONE TO SET UP MY BOX TO BE USED AS A MEDIA CENTRE BASED ON WHAT I HAVE PROPOSED ABOVE?

Thanks for any help you can offer on this!

Cheers,
neo

I gather you're refering to the XBOX1 and XBMC. Look in your local trading post for people doing XBOX "repairs" and one of them should be able to sort you out.

ExtremePC, yes this is what I am looking for...............I just have an old Xbox and wanted to try and get it sorted as a beginning media centre. Also, in the future I want a HTPC that will not be transported, but I need this Xbox to be moveable for weekends away.

Thanks for your help!

You could even take a stab at doing it your self, plenty of tuts on the net about how to do it, lengthy but rather simple process

Re: Xbox, Anybody in Melbourne offer an upgrade service to set up media centre

Thanks guys! Found a guy not too far from my house who sorted this out for me...........Downloaded some files and FTP'd to the box easily. The network setup was quick and all the codecs, etc. required were already installed on the box.

Just one question: Why didnt I do this years ago when others were telling me about this?!?!?!?!?!
