I'm new here and have been looking around for a media centre box for my living room. I've been thinking of building one with Vista Home Premium however have heard stories of certain things that didn't work well. So I'm hoping to learn from the other members who have taken the plunge in media centre.
Although I have a home network already but I've been slow in joining the MCE revolution. The reason why I've been putting it off is simply there's no one consumer device that I find can do everything that I wanted that works out of the box.
I want something that can play DVD, rip my DVD collection, play photos and DivX/AVI. I'm hoping to learn that media player from Vista Home Premium can do the job with minimal hassle and small tweaking/modifications.
Especially if I have to sell it and get approval from the finance dept (ie. my wife
) I want to make 100% the stuff works before I commit to it.
