Hello and Good Morning

Hi All,

let me introduce myself to this community.

My name is 4Ring and I am a new to the whole Media Center space.

I have setup a dedicated Media Center PC which seems to be going well but it is a work in progress and will be some time before I am fully happy with it. I am running XPMCE 2005 and it works well for what I want. I can't see any compelling reason to go to the Vista version yet.

The system is an Antec Fusion Life Sytle case (which is fantastic) with a dual core CPU and 4Gb RAM.

I have an 80Gb SATA II as the system drive and a 500Gb SATA II as the data drive for TV only.

I have added a D-Link NAS 2x500Gb SATA II (JOBD) on a Gigabit backbone and this is giving me close to a TB to have my music and Movies installed. As it grows I will just keep adding additional NAS drives. It video streams really will over the Gb network without any lag. I have a SDLT tape backup so I am covered if I loose the system.

I am down to sorting out the music collection and getting the artwork right. It will take some time but the knowledge base will help me out I am sure.

Well that is about it for the introduction and I look forward to seeing you all on the fourms.

It sounds like you have some clear plans, that is great. As you will see there is plenty of information available on the site via reviews, guides, knowledge-base, searches, and of course by asking.

You may want to look up the Album Art Fixer since you are using XP, I found it very helpful to sort out album art.
