Post padding

I am currently running Vista with IceTV but for some reason I am having trouble getting the programs to pad out the extra time.

I have tried doing it via IceTV software and restarted the computer as it has told me every time but it just doesn't seem to stay.

Any ideas?

Within MCE when i select a program to record i go into the record settings an tell it to stop 10min to 15mins after, and with series i apply this to the series

Re: Post padding

I agree with Arrow55. use the settings in Record Settings rather than IceTV. I ahve never used the IceTV web function, I only grab the gide from them. If I want to update my schedules via the internet I use Webguide4.

Re: Post padding

I'm using the Ice app padding without any problems. Keep in mind that this is 'soft' padding, so it won't apply if you're recording back-to-back shows on the same channel.

In the Ice Interactive application there is a log tab. Have a look at the entries here and see if you are getting any errors. You could also try clearing the Ice Interactive task list. There's a IceTV folder buried somewhere under your user settings folder (might have to display hidden & system files to see it) which contains the Tasks list. There's a post somewhere about how you clear this. Can't find it ATM. The IceTV forums might help.

I have experienced this - where the padding settings don't stick - I raised a post here

I found that if I turn off the update with the IceTV (syncing with the IceTV Server) then the padding settings stick - if I enable the update to the server then the padding settings default back to VMC settings (sooner or later - for whatever reason).

I don't need to schedule programs via the web - so I am OK leaving it disabled - I just use IceTV for the guide.

I also like the hard padding as per Arrow55 - it works well and overrides any soft padding set by IceTV or VMC

I am not sure whether this is working for me or not, because LifeExtender shortens the programs by removing the commercials. Is the padded value shown under Settings in MCE, or does it say 'On time' when it is really padding it?

The VMC settings will report "On Time". Padding is added dynamically by the IceInteractive app, I believe. It's been a long time since I played with it, but if you adjust the post-padding directly in VMC, whatever you set will add to the time you've specified in IceTV.

Thanks for that. Does it add to every scheduled recording you do in Media Center, or only those you add through ICE TV Interactive (on their website)?

It does it generally. I don't schedule recordings through the website - only through the guide on the machine.

Ditto for me too, I set all my series recordings with webguide and apply hard padding - I have set the IceTV soft padding to 0.

IceTV soft padding overrides any soft padding set with VMC

The hard padding set in VMC overrides any soft padding no matter where they are set.

If you have IceTV set at 20 - and hard padding set at 10 - then you will get 10 mins of padding at the end of the show.

Therefore - I would have your IceTV paddings set at some value just in case you forget to set the hard padding within VMC.
