Last Minute Guide Updates - Anyone Else Noticing This?
This may well be related to the fact that I use QLD Regional guide data but it would seem that IceTV tend to have a habit where the guide for a given day is updated to reflect what is actually showing until the day before.
Essentially what this means is that while there is a week of data shown, it may not be correct up until the afternoon of the day before (ie about 24 hours before the actual showing).
While this may not be a big deal in the scheme of things since it is likely that the data will be correct on the day of viewing, it is frustrating when looking more than a couple of days ahead then it is not particularly reliable.
While I've noticed this more often in the past month or so, the most recent example was to do with the new David Atenborough series that starts tonight. While it was being advertised last week and was shown on the other web-guides (such as on Yahoo) it was not actually updated on the IceTV guide until yesterday afternoon.
In my opinion having the guide "almost correct" up until the day before something is aired negates having a week of guide information showing as its not reliable and certainly not particularly useful to look ahead more than a couple of days to set recordings etc.
I'm curious as to whether others have noted this and if it's particular to the regional guides or common to all. I suspect that the regional guides (eg WIN) are simply a copy of those from the capital centres (eg Nine) and then updated as-needed to reflect the differences (eg between WIN and Nine). This would seem a logical process, but perhaps IceTV have become a little complacent and leaving the 'correction' to the last minute.
