As for the sending up of filenames, this is a bug and will be removed in the next version, this was for a feature that would allow you to remotely manage your recordings but this feature is not currently in our development plans and should have been removed for this version. We are absolutely not doing anything with the data and it is just being discarded at the server end.

What a great bug! It specifically has a bit of a sticky beak around your machine and mines data ... LOL!

We had quite a few requests for the feature (remotely managing your library) and also thought it might be a nice feature internally.

I assure you the data isn't kept and the half written "feature" in the Interactive app will be removed. MCE is the only platform where this was partially implemented (so other PVRs and EyeTV, MythTV etc don't have any similar code to worry about it).

I do hope the EUA of ice interactive informed users that the system was going to scan their system and send all their information to icetv. I will be cheking mine when I get home.

And when is the patch due out to fix this problem?

EDIT: And it also begs the question, "How did a half written feature make it into the release version of the app"?

The next release has this fixed and is being tested right now, so very soon.

This is the only case I know of at IceTV, but it's certainly common to lay the groundwork for new features in earlier versions.

There's been plenty of new features exposed in big apps over the years by people viewing all the app's files in a text editor or hex editor.

While I find the above posts a bit unnerving, I`m wondering why you epgstream guys seem to be constantly trying to provoke the icetv guys with posts like this........it was these recent kinds of posts that left me feeling uncomfortable and persuaded me to move to Icetv which has been a 100% reliable service so far

maybe concentrating on your own service and not trying to snipe at competitors ( which is what they are no matter how many times you protest otherwise) may be the way to go

just my 0.02

Whilst in some respects I agree with you, I am none the less as an IceTV subscriber grateful to whoever provides me with this sort of information regardless of their motive. When people stop protecting our right to privacy we will have plenty of worse things to worry about IMO.

P.S. Can anyone tell me if this only happens if I use remote or does it happen regardless?

It seems to be part of the regular fetch/update for the Remote functionality only. When you disable the update in the IceInteractive app it doesn't appear in the logs anymore.

Hang on! I thought this forum was titled "IceTV - Discussion Only", not "IceTV Only - The General EPG Community Keep Out".

I wouldn't be surprised if the IceTV guys will get this 'bug' fixed up quick-smart ... But I am surprised that you would prefer me not to make comment in this IceTV sub-forum.

As an active member of the wider EPG community I do take interest in most aspects of it. IceTV are an active player in the Australian EPG landscape and as such I take an active interest in how they effect the community.

I found the main quote in my post quite humorous, from a privacy point of view. Are you really saying I shouldn't have posted this information here?

Just to add to that: It's good for IceTV to have users question parts of the service like this. We definitely want to do the right thing legally and morally by our users, but we also want to keep pushing new concepts and features.

I think the point was regarding your tenacity at throwing mud, probably hoping some of it sticks. That's fine. We're happy to keep working away on our own service and we'll take any feedback we're given on board, no matter where it comes from.

Don't expect any negative posts from IceTV staff in the Free*EPG forums though. I don't think we have much to gain by doing so.
