IceTV Interactive found and installed an update about four days ago - 2.0.0.17. It was the same day I installed SP1. My system has been chugging a bit since then, and I thought it was SP1.
But now I see that IceTV interactive is hogging around 50% of the CPU. Always. It's error log is filling up with "Couldn't match IceTV program entry to MCE entry (program)" messages. Anyone else seeing this?

Yep, I thought 2.0.0.17 was still in beta though.
Anyway, I've had a problem with it really slowing down the PC, it often gives a (not responding) message but then comes good again. I rolled back to 2.0.0.16.
I've also seen that error but put it down to using GPRS to update my guide while I have no internet access at home.
Edit: Err, I'm not sure if my eyesight is failing, but the thanks button seems to be on holiday ...
Interesting. I thought that was only disabled for the Pub. In any case you can always use the reputation button on the bottom left (the little star) if you want to thank a poster.
Thanks dgaust.
I don't know if it's in Beta. It prompted me to install it, rather than me looking for it. I'm an update junkie, so I gave it the go ahead.
2.0.0.17 is the current official release - so not in beta anymore. It's the one that you get if you download from the IceTV website.
Also, there's a note on the support page of the site that says:
"icetv.com.au under extreme load, timeouts while attempting guide downloads can occur.
This is currently being investigated."
So sounds like they're having a few problems. I lost "Remote" functionality a couple of weeks ago (before the update - I actually installed the update hoping it would fix this). Have sent two emails to support but no answer so far. I'm starting to get the feeling that regardless of the result of the latest legal challenge from Nine, IceTV will implode and disappear like the dinosaurs. The signs are worrying

Alright, I need to ask a stupid question; how did you roll back to 2.0.0.16? It doesn't show up in my System Restore options, and I didn't manually make a restore point. And I don't have the 2.0.0.16 installer.
Do you actually use the remote scheduling? I don't, so I set my update frequency to never & just tick the additional guide updates & registry fixes options.
I found that with remote updates enabled, it seems to have the issues you've described on a fairly regular basis.
So if you don't need the remote updates, disable it. If you do, give Ice a boot up the date.
Justin

I'm with you Justin. I don't use remote at all so IceTV Interactive is not run in the tray at all. I set it up and then removed it from startup. That doesn't stop the guide updates from happening it just disables the remote scheduling functionality which I found way too difficult to get working correctly anyway. If you're not using remote then just remove it from startup once you've got guide updates happening.
Alright, it seems that I don't really understand what IceTV Interactive is all about. I had presumed it was necessary for the Media Center guide, but it seems not. No I don't use remote updates. And I don't even use the padding overrrides (I always use hard padding now). So I will nobble it or, at least, nobble remote updates. Thanks fellas.
